| Onychomycosis |

Medically called Onychomycosis,
fungal nails are a yeast infection of the nail bed and plate. Often it
looks as if the nails are "dirty" and simply need to be cleaned. It is
a very common infection of toenails and fingernails. All nails can be affected but usually only the two great toenails are.

Your physician should non-traumatically debride your nails in the office setting to reduce "fungal load"
or the amount of fungus that needs to be killed.

-Nail Salons
-Shoes too tight or too loose
-Infected shoe leather
-Excess moisture in shoes and on feet
-Age
-Cross infection from another person

INFECTIONS CAN SPREAD FROM FAMILY MEMBER TO FAMILY MEMBER
PROPER SHOE GEAR IS IMPORTANT
MAKE SURE THAT YOUR SHOES AREN'T TOO TIGHT or too loose
AIR OUT YOUR SHOES SO THAT MOISTURE DOES NOT BUILD UP IN THE SHOE MATERIALS.
ONLY WEAR THE SAME shoe every 3rd day

Since fungus is a
